Community Repair Day (click for more info)
Home Repair Services is looking for volunteers for the annual Community Repair Day this Saturday, September 13th. Volunteers will begin their day at 7:15 a.m. with breakfast at Home Repair Services, 1100 South Division Avenue, Grand Rapids. They will then proceed to job sites throughout Kent County, finishing their work by early afternoon. Tasks include building 14 wheelchair ramps, rebuilding four porches, and painting two houses. The 35th Annual Eastown Streetfair will take place on Saturday September 20th, along Wealthy Street between Atlas and Lake from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm. This eagerly-anticipated celebration of arts, crafts, food, music, and the Eastown neighborhood will be bigger and better than ever this year. Fifteen of West Michigan’s finest bands will perform on two stages and more than 75 colorful booths featuring some of the finest artists and crafts from all over Michigan will line the streets. In addition, all of Eastown’s great retail and dining establishments will be open for business with ‘Streetfair’ specials. The Eastown Streetfair, which is organized by the Eastown Special Events Committee, is supported by the ECA, the EBA, and the entire community, and is one of the major events on the Grand Rapids city calendar.

WYCE's Hat Trick Concert Series continues with Randall Bramblett at One Trick Pony on Monday, September 22nd at 7:30pm. Randall Bramblett has kept great company over the years. From his early career with Capricorn Records, to his more recent tours with Widespread Panic, Traffic and Steve Winwood, he has worked with the best in the business. A hat will be passed to benefit Kids Food Basket, an organization that provides healthy, tasty, efficient and cost-effective take-home suppers for children who are nutritionally at risk. WYCE will be putting on a one day music sale on Saturday, September 20th at the Eastown Streetfair, which is held on Wealthy Street between Atlas and Lake.
