Grand Rapids Community Media Center is focused on promoting and facilitating community engagement and access to media. We are the stewards of multiple platforms and resources that empower local residents to create, produce, and distribute their own content, including television programs, radio shows, podcasts, and other digital media.
The Grand Rapids Community Media Center is a nonprofit helping our West Michigan community connect, learn, create and share through barrier-free resources for speech and expression. We are committed to creating a diverse, inclusive and equitable environment for community members, volunteers and employees with the goal of providing all area residents platforms to participate in free speech, strengthen civil society and advance a strong democracy.
Forty-plus years after humble beginnings as a TV station, the Grand Rapids Community Media Center has grown to provide and support a variety of programs including community radio station WYCE, a community venue, Wealthy Theatre, hyperlocal news source The Rapidian, Web Services and public access television, GRTV.
With a mission of building community through media, the GRCMC introduces audiences to new, diverse voices and ideas on stage, on screen and over the air through our programs. The GRCMC continually gathers new tools and knowledge to teach, problem-solve and serve the media and technology needs of residents, organizations, neighborhoods and local collaborations.
Where community voices are heard, valued, and lifted through media.
The core values of Grand Rapids Community Media Center revolve around promoting free speech, community empowerment, and media literacy. By providing access to media tools and platforms, CMC aims to amplify diverse voices, foster civic engagement, and enhance communication within the local community.
We are deeply committed to fostering diversity, inclusion, equity, and a sense of belonging, ensuring that all voices are represented and heard within the community.
