Each hour a person works at the food bank results in about $300 of additional food being distributed throughout the area. WYCE and Jukes bar announce the return of "The Tarbox Ramblers," Wednesday August 2nd, along with local all-female string band "Nobody's Darlin,'" featuring Delilah De Wylde, Karisa Wilson, and Sarah Q. The Tarbox Ramblers mix honkey-tonk, blues and rock, and are self-described as a "primitive blues and jug band." Influences abound, from Morphine to Wilco to Cassandra Wilson. Doors open at 7:00pm and the show starts at 8. Tickets are $5 in advance, but $7 day-of, and are currently available at VERTIGO MUSIC at Division & Cherry, and at Jukes, on Leonard just West of 131. The Nature Society of Western Michigan will be holding a Bards'Bonfire on Friday, August 24th from 9pm til the last owl hoots. The Location is Kent County Lamereaux Park on Coit Avenue one mile north of Four Mile Road. The evening's entertainment will consist of memorized verse, songs stories, poems and anecdotes told around a roaring campfire by the Story Spinners and you, the audience. The WYCE Hat Trick Concert Series has been Extended with one more show with David Mead on Monday June 12th at 7:30pm at the One Trick Pony. Mead is touring in support of his recent release "Tangerine", where much of the material deals with married love.“When I got married," Mead says, "I sort of bought into this model that my parents laid out, assuming that some level of normalcy would accompany it. But it doesn’t. Life gets much weirder, actually.” A Hat will be passed for the benefit of the "Never Give Up" Scholarship Program for M.S. Thanks to Rainbow Music for providing audio assistance and Fountain Hill Bed and Breakfast for providing lodging.
