On Sunday, September 16th, the parking lot at San Chez will transform into a street market and art fair - with more than 20 local artists displaying their work - including a preview of 11 ArtPrize entries. Community Media Center welcomes Amy Goodmanin a benefit lecture at Wealthy Theatre, Tuesday September 18th, from noon to 1:30pm. Award-winning journalist Amy Goodman is the host of radio and television program "Democracy Now!" Goodman visits Grand Rapids as part of a 100 city promotion tour for her new book "The Silenced Majority: Stories of Uprisings, Occupations, Resistance, and Hope." Co-written with Denis Moynihan, the book studies the globalization of dissent - with stories of ordinary people changing their media -- and changing the world. A book signing follows the presentation. All are welcome. Donations to Community Media Center encouraged.
