Music You Don't Know You Like Yet

Little Star

Muramastu. Borofsky. Greenstein. You’re thinking global conspiracy collective, right? No? How about the indie-folk love child between the Indigo Girls and Nickel Creek? That’s what comes to my mind anyway, and "Little Star", the group's second full-length release, works. Doris. Nate. Tylan. Freshly signed up to Amy Ray's indie label Daemon Records, this Brooklyn-based trio of old friends is harmonic and enjoyable. Doris M’s vocals are unexpectedly rich and bold, all trade songwriting credits, all sing, and you’re likely to see any one of them on banjo, percussion, guitar, or mandolin duties depending on the song. The shared lipstick seem a curious footnote, but who dares to stereotype Girlyman?
