Meeting the blood supply during the winter months is very difficult because of weather conditions, traumas, and the flu season. The Michigan Community Blood Centers are in need of all blood types. "A Gift From The Heart" Blood Drive takes place Tuesday, February 24th from 8 am to 7 pm at Michigan Community Blood Centers' Headquarters, located at 1036 Fuller NE. Lunch and dinner will be provided to blood donors courtesy of Max & Erma’s in Grandville. This fundraising event is where adults gather together to support the Grand Rapids Children's Museum with an artistic flair! he self-produced album consists of 14 original songs recorded primarily at the Beech House in Nashville, with additional recording taking place at various Chicago and Minneapolis locations over a period of five months. As usual, Bird handles violin, vocals, whistling and guitar, with back-up from live cohorts Martin Dosh (percussion, looping, keys), Jeremy Ylvisaker (guitar, bass, organ, shortwave) and more recently Mike Lewis, plus a supporting cast including Kelly Hogan, Todd Sickafoose, and the band Loney Dear.

WYCE 88.1 FM and Ambassador David’s Productions are proud to announce the “Bob Marley Birthday Bash 2009” returning to Wealthy Theatre. This will be an evening of music and dance paying tribute to the king of Reggae music. Michigan's own Rootstand will take the stage, along with Gizzae from Chicago. Both bands will feature their own original reggae material, plus covers of some of Bob Marley's best known songs. We'll also have Caribbean food from Jamaican Dave's, and Caribbean craft vendors in the lobby during the show. The all ages show takes place Saturday, March 7th at 8PM at Wealthy Theatre. Tickets are $10 in advance, with all proceeds going to support WYCE. $25 VIP tickets are also available, and include a commemorative t-shirt, free video download of the concert and access to a VIP lounge in the Koning Micro-Cinema. Adolphus Bell was born on June 5, 1944 in Birmingham, Alabama. His father a coal miner died two months before he was born. At the age of 22 he began his pursuit of music full-time, a few years later discouraged from keeping up with band members he developed his One Man Band. Adolphus has been playing on the streets, house parties and since the late 60s has been an activist, constantly performing on the streets of urban ghettos for the kids, trying to ease their frustrations with his music.
