WYCE is pleased to welcome Jake's Music Festival back to Wealthy Theatre on September 6th. For the fourth consecutive year, local bands will get together for a concert to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The Festival was started by Tom and Mary Scheidel of Rockford and named for their son Jake who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes 11 years ago when he was only six. Local artists MidLife Crisis, Truckstop Cobras, The Waxies, End Times Orchestra, Karisa Wilson, Todd Herring and Andy Holtgrieve will perform for the cause. Jake's Music Festival takes place Saturday, September 6th at Wealthy Theatre, beginning at 6:00 p.m. More information is available at myspace.com/jakesmusicfestival.

Every Tuesday in August, WYCE teams up with the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park to present the Tuesday Evening Music Club, a weekly showcase of local music in the Meijer Gardens outdoor amphitheatre. The final concert of the season features the "godfather" of the West Michigan music scene, Ralston Bowles, and a line-up of some of his favorite local artists, on Tuesday, August 26th. The concerts are free for Meijer Gardens members. Non-members can attend the concerts by purchasing a day pass to the Gardens. The Garfield Park Neighborhood Association is holding its 35th annual Arts & Crafts Fair on Saturday, September 6th from 9am until 4pm at Garfield Park, at the corner of Burton and Madison SE. Live music will be on-hand with Edye Evans Hyde (along with her husband Michael) taking the stage at 1:00pm. Fulton St. Jewell’s band accompany her on tour and in the studio. Together they’re always seconding, but never detracting from, Eilen’s hushed vocals. A hat will be passed to benefit the Deaf & Hard of Hearing Services (DHHS) of Grand Rapids. DHHS empowers individuals who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing to reach their full potential in society through the elimination of communication barriers.
