The event will feature Founder's Brewing Company's special "Local First Street Party Brew," food from numerous local restaurants, and live music from Simeon the Whale, the Lynn Thompson Band, The Mighty Narwale, Chance Jones and La Familigia! The Local First Street Party takes place Saturday, June 14th, from 4:00 p.m. to midnight. The party happens outside of Bistro Bella Vita at 44 Grandville SW -- just around the corner from Van Andel Arena. As always, the Street Party is free!

As many as 1 in 8 adults in west Michigan cannot read or write above a ninth grade level.  Low literacy often prevents these individuals from accessing the rich social and economic resources in our community.  


You can make a difference by becoming a tutor.  No special skills are needed - just an ability to read and write in English and a passion to help someone else do the same.

In June, we welcome Stacey Earle and Mark Stuart, presented by Hopcat. There is an innocent quality to Stacey Earle's voice, it seems honest and clear. Her husband and musical counterpart Mark Stuart adds his warmth to their union. Together, they share the lead, the writing and the road. The FREE show starts at 7:00PM on Wednesday June 11th at Wealthy Theatre. Sweet Japonic will be performing with Karisa Wilson on Violin and Ross Veldheer on Congas and Djembe. The band is preparing to play some old material that was on their unreleased Front Porch EP (prior to Through the Eyes of Lucie Blue), spice up several of their current tunes and play some new songs in the works. Sweet Japonic will play on Saturday, May 24th at Billy's Lounge.
