WYCE enters the 2008 concert season with a performance from Blackie and the Rodeo Kings and Their Traveling Roadshow Extravaganza -- presented by Hopcat. Blackie & The Rodeo Kings is a collaboration between three longtime solo artists, Colin Linden, Stephen Fearing and Tom Wilson, who have recently released a wonderful collection of music called "Let's Frolic". Local acoustic roots band Arganik will open the show. The concert takes place Thursday, January 24th at 7:30PM at Wealthy Theatre. Tickets are just $8 through Friday, January 18th, at which point they go up to the regular price of $12. All proceeds benefit your station, 88.1 FM WYCE. Tickets can be purchased by calling 616-459-4788 x130. Technical assistance for this concert provided by Rainbow Music. Lodging provided by Peaches Bed & Breakfast on Heritage Hill. The final event in the CMC Spotlight Series will be the Super Happy Old Time Radio Hour. WYCE and the rest of the media center celebrate community radio that is real, live and without commercial interruption. The Super Happy Old Time Radio event will celebrate the days when live radio shows were on stage and on radio simultaneously, featuring vignettes, serials and old style commercials. This show is produced and directed by members of Super Happy Funtime Burlesque with cameo appearances by WYCE programmers. Two productions of The Super Happy Old Time Radio Event will be at Wealthy Theatre, 1130 Wealthy St SE on Saturday, January 19, a 2pm matinee, and an 8pm evening show. WYCE and the West Michigan Blues Society are proud to announce the return of the Cabin Fever Blues Series, sponsored by the law firm of Varnum Riddering Schmidt & Howlett. The first band in the series will be the Matthew Skoller Band. Skoller and his band of veteran musicians are at the forefront of a new generation who’ve come up schooled in Chicago's world-renowned and highly competitive blues scene. The Cabin Fever Blues Series takes place every Saturday night in February at Billy's Lounge in Eastown. Matthew Skoller will perform Saturday, February 2nd, the Show starts at 9:00 PM. All proceeds benefit WYCE and the Blues Society. Lodging for Cabin Fever artists provided by Baymont Inn & Suites of Byron Center. Additional support provided by Pilar's Cafe and River City Slim's.
