The Community Media Center and Urban Institute of Contemporary Arts join together to present The Lascivious Biddies at Wealthy Theatre on Wednesday, June 13 at 7:30pm. The group is an all-female cocktail quartet, with four-part harmony, blending jazz, pop and cabaret into a unique sound. This benefit will include a post party at the Wealthy Theatre, tickets can be purchased at the CMC, 616-459-4788 x133.

WYCE and the Community Media Center present an evening of independent music and film on Saturday, June 9th at Wealthy Theatre. The local premiere of the documentary film "Before the Music Dies" will examine the complicated world of the corporate music industry, and how independent artists are struggling to create their own success outside of the mainstream. The event will also feature performances from local artists before and after the screening of the film. "Keep the Music Alive" is a fundraiser for the CMC's capital campaign, and a chance to see how funds from that campaign are changing the technical capabilities of Wealthy Theatre. CMC's "Keep the Music Alive" fundraiser is Saturday, June 9th. Beer, wine and mixed drinks will be available as well as standard movie concessions. Cocktail hour begins at 6:00. Art Out Loud is a summer concert at the UICA featuring Mid-Life Crisis and Domestic Problems. Local artists will create paintings live in response to the music (to be raffled later that evening); other artists include glass blowers, a henna artist, a caricature artist, and prayer flag making. Art Out Loud takes place on August 22nd fro 6-10pm and will be raising funds for UICA's Artworks program that offers opportunities to youth. WYCE will finish off the Spring Hat Trick season on Monday ,June 4, at the One Trick Pony on 136 E. Fulton. The exciting three-piece acoustic group "Devil in a Woodpile." will take the stage at 7:30pm. Devil in a Woodpile breathes new, booty-shaking high spirit into the string band. The band features Rick Sherry on vocals, harp, washboard and clarinet; Tom Ray on upright bass and Joel Paterson on guitar. The Hat Trick series is presented by the law firm of Rhoades McKee, with support from Mark Swanson, maker of acoustic stringed instruments including guitars and bazoukis. The Sight Seer Radio Reading program will benefit from the final Hat. More information about all of our concerts is available at WYCE dot org.
