The 2nd Annual Water Festival will be held in Riverside Park on June 16. The event begins at 11am and goes until 10pm. Music will be performed throughout the day with brief talks in between sets. Performances from many local musicians Stepping In It, Rachel Davis, Breathe Owl Breathe, Seth Bernard and Daisy May, Hawks and Owls String Band, Ralston, Drew Nelson, Jen Sygit and Peter Madcat Ruth just to name a few. Information tables will be set up involving water, hands-on workshops, and educational presentations. Information is available at www.thewaterfestival.org. WYCE's Hat Trick Concert Series continues with our fifth show featuring Vinx on Monday May 21 at 7:30pm at One Trick Pony. Those who were lucky enough to see Vinx at Wealthy Theatre last year might remember what a commanding and engaging performer he is. We will pass a hat for HIV/AIDS services a group that works for the health, rights and safety of people living with HIV/AIDS. The Hat Trick series is presented by the law firm of Rhoades McKee, with support from Mark Swanson, maker of acoustic stringed instruments including guitars and bazoukis. And now for a WYCE concert announcement: Karl Denson is coming back to Grand Rapids Tuesday May 15, with the "Greyboy Allstars!" The "Greyboy Allstars" are back together promoting their first album in over a decade, entitled "What Happened to TV," produced by the original cast of Karl Denson, DJ Greyboy, and James Brown's Music Director Fred Wesley. The touring group is a talented group of seasoned musicians--headed by Karl Denson--prepared for anything! The "Allstars" mix old-school funk with a creative new-world style of good-time jazz, and they will be playing the Intersection Tuesday, May 15 at 9pm. Support for the legendary "Greyboy Allstars" concert is provided by The Intersection. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster, Vertigo Music, and Aris' Disc Shop.
