WYCE is pleased to announce the return of the Hat Trick Concert series at One Trick Pony in downtown Grand Rapids. This year's performers include Danielle Howle, Ellis Paul with (ONN-jay DOO-vuh-kott) Antje Duvekot, Birdie Busch, Cat Russell and Dayna Kurtz. Next Hat Trick Concert is on October 2nd with Danielle Howle Howle is an up and coming artist touring in support of her debut album. "Thank You, Mark", produced by Mark Bryan. Howle’s songwriting shows an artist at the peak of her craft, skillfully blending Americana with R&B, classic jazz and a dash of swing, all stamped with her uniquely Southern sensibility. As always, this Hat Trick concert will be free. We will pass a hat for Mel Trotter Women's Program, providing shelter and other services for troubled women and children. Thanks to Fountain Hill Bed and Breakfast for providing lodging and to Ad America for providing T-shirts. Name of PSA: GRIID WOrkshop The Grand Rapids Institute for Information Democracy and the YWCA of West Central Michigan will present an interactive workshop called "Framing the debate around affirmative action: What local media coverage tells us about our message." The workshop will examine local TV and press coverage of this issue and explore how those opposed to the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative can learn to frame their own messages for better representation in the media. Concert promo - Early September Shows Notes: (none) Copy: THIS WEEK is a busy one for WYCE's concert calendar! The Dirty Dozen Brass Band is back to West Michigan! The band will play an 8pm all-ages show at Ground Sphere Cafe in Allegan on Tuesday, September 5th. Directions to this new venue are posted for your convenience on the WYCE "upcoming concerts" page at www.WYCE.org. This Friday Night, September 8th, WYCE welcomes Paul Thorn back to Grand Rapids for a solo acoustic performance at The Intersection's front lounge! Show begins at 9:30PM, and WYCE would like to let you know that this intimate front lounge show will be sound-insulated from the rest of the venue that evening by a big steel door. On Saturday September 9th, Melissa Ferrick will be at The Intersection Main Stage for a 10 p.m. CD release show.
