The Literacy Center of West Michigan (click for more info)

As many as 1 in 8 adults in west Michigan cannot read or write above a ninth grade level.  Low literacy often prevents these individuals from accessing the rich social and economic resources in our community.

You can make a difference by becoming a tutor.  No special skills are needed - just an ability to read and write in English and a passion to help someone else do the same.

For more information, call Literacy Center of West Michigan at 616 459-5151 or sign up for a volunteer orientation online at "Literacy Center W M dot org."

Fund Drive thanks... (click for more info)
WYCE would like to send out a big "thank you" to the hundreds of listeners who answered the challenge during our brief on-air fund drive, and renewed their commitment as listener-sponsors. We made great progress toward our overall spring fundraising goal, but we still have a ways to go. If you missed the on-air drive, it's not too late to do your part. You can donate online any time at WYCE.org, and check out the selection of remaining Dinner and a Show and summer festival packages. And watch your mail, because we've just sent out information about two fun events coming up this spring. Once again, thank you being an active part of the community at YOUR community radio station.

CMC board event May 2 (click for more info)
Community Media Center's mission is "Building Community Through Media" - and that's exactly what we'll be doing at a special event on May 2nd. Wealthy Theatre is hosting a Community Media Center story collecting experiment, free and open to anyone who wants to share a story. The evening begins with food, drinks and story collecting, followed by a little bit of official business as we close the nomination period for new Board of Directors candidates. Then we'll celebrate with an immediate screening of a digital mash-up of the evening's tales. CMC's community storytelling night, Wealthy Theatre, Thursday, May 2nd at 6:00 p.m. More information about the event and the nomination process for CMC's board of directors is available at GRCMC.org.
