Preservation Hall Jazz Band derives its name from the famed music venue, located in New Orleans' French Quarter. Early members of the band pioneered the Dixieland jazz sound and have passed on their music to a new generation. Titled Occasion For Song, it comes out July 16 and “deals with the death of founding member and violinist Noel Sayre. Noel died tragically in a swimming accident in Portsmouth, Ohio – July of 2008″ The first song being streamed, “Portsmouth Ohio”, chronicles the day of Noel’s death.
