Festival 2007 Film Competition offers local filmmakers an opportunity to exhibit their latest films at one of Michigan's largest summer arts festivals. This year's cash awards total over $1,100. Enter animation, documentary, narrative, music video and experimental films and videos. Deadline for film entries is May 5. This juried exhibition is held June 1-3, downtown Grand Rapids. The Red Thread Project will feature 500 hats in the public performance scheduled for 7:00 pm on Friday, June 30 at Rosa Parks Circle in downtown Grand Rapids. The hats will be attached to a knitted red cord measuring over a half-mile long. Community members are invited to come wear a hat and participate in the performance, which celebrates community connections – both visible and invisible.
