Hat Trick Concert Series - Electric Junkyard Gamelan (click for more info)
WYCE's Spring Hat Trick Concert Series - presented by The Law Firm of Rhoades McKee - returns to One Trick Pony Grill and Taproom with a performance by Electric Junkyard Gamelan, Monday, May 2nd at 7:30pm. Electric Junkyard Gamelan is the brainchild of band leader, composer and instrument builder Terry Dame. 'Their motto is ReUse, ReCycle, Rock!' Performing original groove-driven music on self-invented instruments this unique band is inspired by the interlocking rhythms of traditional Balinese music. Today the group is influenced by a diverse range of sounds - from eastern modal music and funk to klezmer and hip hop. This show benefits VSA Arts - bringing students with disabilities together with artists and art projects. The show is FREE with a suggested minimum donation of $10 to the night's non-profit. The Hat Trick series is once again made possible with support from The Law Firm of Rhoades McKee with lodging provided by Peaches Bed and Breakfast and audio support from On Stage Services.

Events for the Festival of Faith and Music 2011 include three nights of live performances by some of the leading artists in folk, rock, roots, and independent music, workshops led by musicians, critics, scholars, producers, and keynote speakers. The band is spearheaded by Shara Worden, who has contributed vocals to the music of The Decemberists, David Byrne and Soof-yan Stevens. Hassidic hip-hop artist Matisyahu continues to jump boldly from hard-edged dancehall and ska-inflected New Wave to laidback pop-rock and acoustic folk-soul. Showtime is 9pm. African Air Horn Dance
Radioclit Presents: The Sound of Club Secousse, Vol 1 2010 via Crammed Disc
a note about this track

From London-based DJ / production duo Radioclit comes a new collection of street-level African dance anthems, which have become favorites in DJ sets worldwide and specifically at their monthly Secousse parties in London and Paris. The word "secousse" is French for "shake," and it's also the source of the term soukous, the Congolese dance music that's one of the myriad musical styles featured on this collection of the original, unmixed tracks.
