The Fall 2009 Hat Trick Concert Series wraps up with a performance by Canadian band Lee Harvey Osmond. The last show of the season is at One Trick Pony Grill and Taproom, Monday, November 23rd at 7:30 pm! This free Monday night concert series brings nationally-touring acts to Grand Rapids in support of a non-profit organization working in our community. This show benefits ACCESS of West Michigan, working to help eliminate poverty in Kent County. The Hat Trick Concert series is once again made possible with support from The Law Firm of Rhodes McKee with lodging provided by Peaches Bed and Breakfast and audio support from Mark Swanson. Today's First Amendment Quote is the engineering firm of Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber, sponsoring an environmental expo at C.A. Frost Environmental Science Academy. The event will educate families, students and the community about best practices in sustainability, with over 30 local organizations in attendance. The expo will also feature paper, aluminum foil and "e-waste" recycling. Anyone who brings an electronic item for recycling will be entered into a drawing for a desktop PC provided by Comprenew. The "Enviro-Expo" takes place Thursday, November 19th from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at C. A. Frost Environmental Science Academy, 1460 Loughlin Drive Northwest. "Sitting on Top of the World" is a folk-blues song written by Walter Vinson and Lonnie Chatmon, core members of the Mississippi Sheiks, a popular country blues band of the 1930s. Walter Vinson claimed to have composed “Sitting on Top of the World” one morning after playing a white dance in Greenwood, Mississippi. The song was first recorded by the Mississippi Sheiks in 1930 (on the Okeh label, No. 8784), became a popular cross-over hit for the band, and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2008
