One Trick - Vaughn (click for more info)
Today's Earth & Sky sponsor is One Trick Pony, presenting Stoll Vaughan in concert on Saturday, November 7th. The Kentucky-based singer-songwriter's appearance at One Trick Pony will be slightly more intimate than his last performance in Grand Rapids, when he opened for Journey and Def Leppard at Van Andel Arena. The smaller venue may be more fitting for his work, which has been compared to early Bruce Springsteen and Townes Van Zandt. Stoll Vaughan plays at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 7th. More information is available online at onetrick.biz. One Trick Pony is located at 136 E. Fulton Street in downtown Grand Rapids.

Tony Allen

Sinuhe
Inspiration Information, Vol. 4 2009 via STRUT RECORDS
a note about this track

Eclectic Finnish musician Jimi Tenor teamed up with Afrobeat drumming legend Tony Allen to complete the fourth installment to Strut Records’ Inspiration Information series. The collaboration was recorded last November at Lovelite Studios in Berlin, and concluded this year with added sessions in Finland and Paris. In just over five days of jamming, the two successfully developed what has been described as a raw culmination of: full range Afrobeat repertoire, homemade instruments, vintage keyboards, dark humor, solid grooves, analog recording, and tight, “firing musicianship”. Members of Tenor’s Kabu Kabu band sat in on the sessions, in addition to Berlin-based guest MC Allonymous.
