Community Media Center is kicking off a virtual concert series programmed by WYCE, live from Wealthy Theatre, and broadcasting live on GRTV's Comcast Ch 24 as well as Facebook.
This week: Hayes Griffin
Monday, June 8 from 6pm-7pm
Hayes Griffin is a musician and educator living in Grand Rapids, MI. Hailing from central Ohio, Hayes studied bluegrass and jazz guitar at Denison University, and later earned an MM in Contemporary Improvisation at the New England Conservatory. A veteran of the road, Hayes has toured with Canadian fiddle virtuoso April Verch and progressive bluegrass band NewTown. Hayes currently performs in a duo with mandolinist Nate Roberts, runs his own a music publishing company, and manages 88.1fm WYCE. Hayes Griffin’s debut solo album “Midwestern Swing” is an aural cocktail inspired by the sounds of American country and swing music from the 1930’s, 40s, and 50s. Original tracks from Hayes and Quinn Griffin are set next to “deep cuts” from legendary songwriter/performer Cindy Walker, Don Reno & Red Smiley, Tom Delaney, and Joe Gibson.
This is a free virtual event, though donations are encouraged. Help support our community's multimedia platforms and this week's artists by donating to Community Media Center (grcmc.org/donate).
