Artist Of The Day: Puss N Boots

A longtime busman's holiday for Norah Jones, Sasha Dobson, and Catherine Popper, Puss N Boots play a repertoire anchored in American country, folk, and jazz, primarily from the mid-century but also reaching back earlier and later.

Since the group came together in 2008, each member has made attempts at trying new instruments they weren't previously accustomed to. For Norah Jones and Sarah Dobson it was guitar (and also drums for Dobson), and for Popper it was pedal steel guitar.

The trio played various New York clubs, mostly playing low key gigs for friends and unsuspecting fans just to hone their musical skills.

They started to get some national recognition on the heels of a cover of the Band's "Twilight" performed at a memorial for the late Levon Helm.

Their debut album, 2014's No Fools, No Fun, combined original songs and covers, as did the follow-up, 2020's Sister.

Sister was recently added to the WYCE Music Library.
