Monday, May 27th: BIG THIEF

Big Thief is an American 4 piece indie rock band with folk roots based in Brooklyn, New York, United States. Eliciting adjectives like raw, volatile, vulnerable, and intimate, their sound is shaped by the very personal songwriting of singer/guitarist Adrianne Lenker. The Minneapolis native began releasing solo material as a teen in 2006. Eventually, she met a musical kindred spirit in Buck Meek. They made two EPs in 2014 before the forming Big Thief with bass player Max Oleartchik and drummer James Krivchenia.

Their first album “Masterpiece” was released in 2016. Their second album “Capacity” (2017) topped indie charts and earned their first headlining tour. Lenker departed from the band in 2018 to release her solo work “Abysskiss” but rejoined Big Thief for their third album. “U.F.O.F.” was recently added to WYCE’s library.
