Monday, May 6th: VIVIAN SESSOMS

Vivian Sessoms is a jazz vocalist from New York City. Born to two musicians and raised in Harlem, Vivian Sessoms learned the wonder of music at a young age. Surrounded by nightclubs, churches and regular jam sessions at her family’s home, she was already singing by the time she could talk. By the time she was 9, Sessoms was doing voice work for TV and radio, and by 16, she was composing her own songs.

On one of her first major tour, she performed with Japanese pianist Ryuichi Sakamoto, who soon became her mentor. As she grew, her resume lengthened, performing either live on in studio with an array of artists including: P. Diddy, Michael Jackson, Sinead O’Connor, Donna Summer, and Stevie Wonder.

In 2018, she made her solo debut with “Life,” and returned this year with the follow up, “Life II,” which was recently added to our library.
