Friday, April 5th: ADRIAN YOUNGE
Adrian Younge is an American composer, arranger and music producer based in the Los Angeles area.
His music blends soul and hip-hop with a broad spectrum of late-'60s and early-'70s sounds from spaghetti westerns to opera.
In 1998, Younge began his music career, teaching himself how to play various instruments and learned the ins and outs of analog recording. His debut album, “Venice Dawn,” appeared in 2000.
In 2009, Younge not only edited but also composed the original score for the film Black Dynamite which was hailed as a modern Blaxploitation masterpiece.
Following the success of Black Dynamite, Younge recorded and released material under the name Venice Dawn, established his own label Linear Labs, and has collaborated with artists like Ghostface Killah, Bilal, and The Delfonics,.
With Ali Shaheed of A Tribe Called Quest, they perform as The Midnight Hour.
Younge is also an entertainment law professor.
With 11 albums and countless credits, Younge returned in 2019 with a four track EP of songs produced by him, featuring Georgia Muldrow, Terrace Martin, Estelle, Black Thought, and Gallant.
