Friday, February 8th: HEAVY COLOR
Heavy Color is a future beat / psych jazz / hybrid-electronic ensemble that blends traditional music from around the globe with modern afro-beat and psychedelic pop music.
As a duo they combine a soulful electronic haziness with the organic textures of African and Latin percussion-centric music. Their influences range from Weather Report and Sun Ra to contemporary electronic music and experimental pop psychedelia.
In May of 2015 they travelled to the Eastern borders the Democratic Republic of Congo to collaborate on an album with local musicians in support of the NDARO Cultural center in Bukavu (a safe center for youth to learn music, dance and art) and the ongoing efforts of ON THE GROUND an NGO focusing on gender equality and sustainable community development in farming regions around the globe.
On their 2018 release River Passage, they deepened their connection to live performance and composition to create their own world to deconstruct and re-form.
Jammies XX will be Heavy Color’s first Jammies appearance, with a performance on the main stage at 10 and with nominations for Album of The Year, Best Electronic Album, and Song of The Year for their single, “Hidden Kingdom.”
