This episode of Electric Poetry, which aired on July 10, 2018, features an interview with Miriam Bat-Ami, along with two poems from her recently published collection, "Measuring the Marigolds." About the poet: As a professor in the WMU English department, Miriam Bat-Ami wrote and published one picture book, two middle grade novels, and a young adult novel. The latter, TWO SUNS IN THE SKY, won the prestigious Scott O’Dell award for historical fiction. She also published articles in multicultural literature and oral verse. Now a retired professor, she has returned to her first love: poetry. "Measuring the Marigolds" is her first volume of poetry published this spring by Caffeinated Press. Its locus is Michigan, and the poems move from local rural living to childhood memories to the feelings one has when children leave home.
