Swearin - Fall Into The Sun

In this suprise third release by Swearin, the indie sweethearts reunite and perfect their blend of 90's influenced pop-punk with fuzz in no short supply. Fronted by Kyle Gilbride and Allison Crutchfield (sister and former bandmate of Waxahatchee's Katie Crutchfield) these tracks showcase her voice's brawny syncopation that calls to mind influences like Bikini Kill's Kathleen Hanna. Her electric delivery flows well with Gilbride's grungey odes to growing apart, getting wiser, and finding yourself right back where you started.

Sister Sparrow - Gold

The Brooklyn-based soul outfit of singer Arleigh Kincheloe dazzles with this vivid addition to their crowded discography. Kincheloe charms with her rhythmic command of the anthematic choruses that stretch from track to track, belting every power note with a  true performers flair for keeping your attention .An extensive backing band incorporates juke joint grooves and bass heavy breakdowns that distill the classic Muscle Shoals sound and funk into a modern collection of bangers.

Colter Wall - Songs Of The Plains

Colter Wall might only be 23, but the Canadian singer-songwriter has the  throaty bourbon soaked voice of classic country legends like Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings. One of the most promising artists to come out of the neo-traditional country scene, Wall captivates your heart and wears it down with his yearning lullabys for rural life and spurned affection.

Highlight: "Calgary Round-Up"

Phosphorescent - C'est La Vie

In the long-anticipated follow up to his lovely and waltz-filled debut "Muchacho", alt-country crooner Matthew Houcke expands on his knack for pairing the best of studio wizardry and good old Nashville ballads . Cowboy inflection and dreamy electronic soundscapes permeate this addition from the experimentally-minded artist.
