Speedy Ortiz originated in Northampton, Massachusetts, starting as a solo project of vocalist and songwriter Sadie Dupuis.
The band arrived with 2013’s Major Arcana, an album that was named Best New Music by Pitchfork and sparked tours with The Breeders and Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks.
The band cleaned up at Boston Music Awards with their 2nd album, Foil Deer. They also became involved with ‘Girls Rock!’ Camp Foundation, donating net proceeds of a tour to the organization.
The band was prepared to release their 3rd album but scrapped it completely following the 2016 Presidential election. The new batch of defiant, outspoken anthems that came in its wake now appear on the new album Twerp Verse, which was released last Friday.
