California native David ‘Kid’ Ramos is back from a 17-year recording hiatus with a taste of the Old School blues.
Ramos got his start as sideman with harmonica ace James Harman’s band, with whom he toured throughout most of the ‘80s. He later formed the Cali-Mex outfit Los Fabulocos and recorded four solo records before getting the call from Kim Wilson to join The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Burned out from seven years on the road with the T-Birds, Ramos decided to focus on raising a family for the better part the last decade.
Kid Ramos’ new album, Old School, was recorded live to tape on two tracks using all analogue equipment and vintage microphones. It features appearances from Kim Wilson, Mike Welch, and the singing debut of Kid’s eldest son Johnny Ramos.
