The Breeders' new album All Nerve was just released on Friday.
The band was formed in 1989 when Kim Deal, bassist with The Pixies, and Tanya Donelly, guitarist of Throwing Muses, decided to assume more prominent creative roles and struck out on their own. Together with bassist Josephine Wiggs and drummer Britt Walford, they recorded and released 1990's critically-acclaimed debut Pod with producer Steve Albini.
When Donelly left to form Belly, Kim Deal asked her twin sister Kelley to fill in on guitar. Together they released what has been the band's high water mark, 1993's Last Splash, which featured the smash hit "Cannonball" and led to an opening spot on Nirvana's world tour.
Though the band has maintained an on again-off again career since, the new disc is the first to feature the reunited Last Splash lineup.
The Breeders arrive at Chicago's Vic Theatre on May 8th
