Hallelujah Anyhow, the latest album from folk group Hiss Golden Messenger, is out now.  The band was formed ten years ago by lead singer MC Taylor and Scott Hirsch. Taylor and Hirsch had been playing music together for years prior to the creation of Hiss Golden Messenger. They first met as members of the hardcore punk band Ex-Ignota. They switched to a softer sound as members of folk-rock group The Court and Spark. Hiss Golden Messenger's first album 2009's Country Hai East Cotton saw a limited release, with just 500 copies issued

The big debut of the group on the international scene was with their second album 2010's Bad Debt. The band's following shot up when they were signed to Merge Records and released their fifth album Lateness of Dancers in 2014. Between recording and touring, Taylor finds time to lecture at colleges on folklore and help edit a music education curriculum for the legendary Quincy Jones.  Hallelujah Anyhow features contributing vocals from Tift Merritt and Mac McCaughan of Superchunk
