Tonight! Pegi Young performs at the Tip Top Deluxe with her band the Survivors. Young's solo career began relatively late in life. She had been playing guitar and writing music when she was young, but she put those activities on hold in 1974, the year she met Neil Young. Through the course of their thirty-six year marriage, Young was busy playing with her husband on tour, raising their children, and running the Bridge School. Frustrated in her attempts to find a place that could properly care for her son Ben, who has Cerebral Palsy, she founded Bridge School in 1986.
Young's solo career began with the release of 2007's Pegi Young. It was on this record that she began working with legendary session musicians Spooner Oldham and Ben Keith. Young's follow-up album Foul Deeds came out in 2010.
Young's latest album is Raw, which was written and recorded in the aftermath of her divorce from Neil Young in 2014. The album is about finding strength following such a life changing event. Young has come to realize how apt the title of Survivor has clung to her band because she had “gone through a lot of good stuff and scary stuff", and that she "will keep going forward." Along with this tour in support of Raw, Young has begun work on a memoir.
