Chicago based blues guitarist Nick Moss performs this Saturday at Tip Top Deluxe Bar & Grill. Moss is one of the most highly-regarded blues guitarists of his generation. Over the course of his career, he has been nominated for sixteen Blues Music Awards. Moss's career started in the early nineties, playing with artists like Buddy Scott and Jimmy Dawkins. He was also a member of the Legendary Blues Band.
His solo debut – released as Nick Moss and The Flip Tops, First Offence was released in 2003. With the release of 2010's Privileged, the band was renamed the Nick Moss Band.
Moss's most recent album is 2016's double album From the Root to the Fruit. For this album, Moss wanted to unite the more experimental blues of today with the style of the old masters of blues. The album’s first half is filled with tracks based on the varied styles of blues that have sprung up over the genre's history. These styles include "40's and 50's jump blues, 60's and 70's style blues, Texas style, Chicago, and uptown blues". The second half is based on the more experimental styles that Moss had been playing with his band. It is described as "blues with a soul and garage punk sound with some Rolling Stones blues tossed in for good measure."
The band joins Johnny Pockets live on air this Saturday afternoon at 2pm!
