Known for his signature guitar sound, achieved with his 1935 Epiphone Olympic Guitar, David Rawlings is set to release, Poor David's Almanac, his third studio album. The album finds Rawlings working with long-time partner Gillian Welch, Ketch Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show, and Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith of Dawes. The album will actually be the eighth collaboration between Welch and Rawlings. The duo met as students at Berklee College of Music, and in 1996, Rawlings worked with Welch on her debut album Revival.
Alongside Welch, Rawlings has worked with many prominent artists. In 2000 the duo worked with Ryan Adams on his debut album Heartbreaker. With Adams, Rawlings co-wrote the songs "To Be Young (Is To Be Sad, Is To Be High)" and "Touch, Feel and Lose". Rawlings and Welch also appeared on Bright Eyes' 2007 album Cassadaga. Rawlings' first album as the Dave Rawlings Machine, A Friend of A Friend was released in 2009 and was followed by Nashville Obsolete in 2015. For his latest album, he dropped the Machine and will be issuing Poor David's Almanac as David Rawlings.
