Atlanta based Neo-Soul artist Cody Chesnutt just released his third full length studio album My Love Divine Degree. Chesnutt music career began in 1997 when he became of founding member of the group The Crosswalk. The band was signed to Hollywood Records and through the label recorded the album Venus Loves a Melody in 1998. Before the album's release, the band was dropped by their label, leaving Venus Loves a Melody unreleased. After the dissolution of the Crosswalk, Chesnutt began work on his solo career. This would lead to his debut album 2002's The Headphone Masterpiece.
This massive double LP would spawn the well known single "The Seed" which would gain even more prominence when it was remixed by Chesnutt in collaboration with The Roots. That song "The Seed 2.0" would become the biggest hit for all involved. Chesnutt is not the most prolific of artists taking a decent amount of time between albums alternating between touring and spending time with his family. Chesnutt's follow up to his debut, Landing on a Hundred did not come out until 2012. Chesnutt's most recent album features multiple collaborations with fellow Neo-Soul artist Raphael Saadiq.
