Kronos Quartet have been providing the world with their unique brand of contemporary chamber music since 1973. Originating out of Seattle, the group was founded by violinist David Harrington. The lineup of the group has changed over the years but the current members include violinist John Sherba and viola player Hank Dutt, who have been in the quartet since the late 70s. The most recent addition is cellist Sunny Yang who joined in 2013.

Throughout their forty-four year career, the group has collaborated with a diverse range of artists including Paul McCartney, David Bowie, Tom Waits, Bjork and legendary poet Allen Ginsburg. Along with their studio and live work, the group has contributed scores to major motion pictures including Heat and most memorably Clint Mansell's score for Requiem for a Dream. The groups most recent album Folk Songs was released in June by Nonesuch Records and features collaborations with Rhiannon Giddens, Olivia Chaney, Sam Amidon, and Natalie Merchant.
