In 2015, Olivia Chaney joined The Decemberists on their tour as an opening act. Here was born the band Offa Rex, which brings together the voice of Cheney with the backing of the Portland band. The group just released the album The Queen of Hearts on July 14th.

Offa Rex takes influence from the psychedelic folk-rock of the 1960s to reinterpret classic English folk tunes. In the press release Meloy describes the idea behind the project which is based on the "weird relationship between British and American music, this interesting trade and theft that goes back and forth." Meloy's hope was that by joining with Chaney, "perhaps these traditional British songs would be infused with something different." The band is currently touring in support of the album.
