There have been plenty of family bands throughout the years, but it’s a bit more interesting when they’re all the children of a musician famous in their own right. Morgan Heritage are a reggae band comprised of the children of reggae icon Denroy Morgan who have been grooving and praising Jah for over two decades. Their new album Avrakedabra came out last week and features the kind of fun, energetic, reggae roots jaunts that have earned them fans and praised since their beginnings in the 90’s.
The group formed in New York and moved to their father’s homeland of Jamaica soon after the release of their first album which unfortunately led to three family members leaving the band. Their second record, Protect Us Jah, was met with much more critical recognition than their first and laid a solid blueprint for the majority of their career.
