Best known for his resonator guitar work in Lindsey Lou & the Flatbellys, bluegrass artist Mark Lavengood is self releasing his third solo album We Came Along this month. Lavengood opened up to fans and the Midwest music community through Kickstarter to raise funds to insure that it is a release to remember. The campaign was fully backed and reached their stretch goal of $15,131 with only 10 hours remaining.
Lavengood has collaborated far and wide across Michigan, carving out his own space in the world of resonator-guitar. Growing up in a musical family, he originally began playing music on the drums, but quickly wandered into a more stringed environment. After studying with Dave Zerbe in the Alma College Percussion Ensemble, he set out to hone his dobro skill, which led to the 2010 Blissfest where he first encountered his future bandmates in The Flatbellys.
