Beloved experimental, folktronic Argentinian artist, Juana Molina is releasing her 7th full length album Halo this Friday. It’s been 4 years since her last album Wed21. The record – which features Deerhoof’s John Dietrich - was recorded partially in Molina's home studio outside of Buenos Aires as well as Sonic Ranch Studio in Texas. In a press release, Molina explains that the new material taps into “energy from immemorial rituals; with timbral explorations and ever-changing soundscapes; with mysterious lyrics often touching on witchcraft, premonition and dreams, always used as metaphors for emotional state”.
Molina once starred in a popular comedy show in Argentina but left to pursue her love of music. After moving to Los Angeles and being introduced to keyboards and other electronic instruments, Molina began self-recording her 2nd LP and has been pushing the sonic envelope ever since with hypnotic beats, incorporeal vocals, and lushly layered loops.
