Fans of long time rockers Los Lobos can catch their career-spanning live show at Kalamazoo State Theatre this Sunday, April 9th. The Chicano, Tex-Mex, roots, rock & roll band has been touring, recording, and innovating for over 40 years and has refused to slow down. Their most recent album, Gates of Gold, harkened back to their work in the early 90’s while still flushed with a sense of sonic exploration.
The band formed in 1973, finding their first mainstream success with the 1986 cover of Ritchie Valens’ “La Bamba”. Since then, they've been nominated for 7 Grammys, with 3 wins for Best Pop Instrumental and Best Mexican/Mexican-American album. Impressively, the band’s core lineup has remained unchanged throughout their lengthy career, which must have been a badge of honor when they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.
