Last year, Philadelphia-based indie pop artists Allison Crutchfield joined her twin sister Katie, AKA indie artist Waxahatchee, on Merge Records to release her debut LP Tourist in This Town. Tonight she can be found at the Pyramid Scheme with her backing band The Fizz and openers Vagabon and Empath.

The new album was recorded at Uniform Recording in Philadelphia with Jeff Zeigler, who ignited in Crutchfield an interest in synthesizers. Crutchfield says:“His arsenal and knowledge of analog synths, along with his ear for spatial addition and subtraction within a song, really sculpted this album and impacted me artistically forever.” The 80’s leaning collection of songs dives into the effects of change: how it causes temporary panic and eventually triumph.

Before performing solo, Allison played with her sister in the revered Philidelphia DIY band Swearin’ as well as P.S. Eliot a few years before that. The show will be a homecoming for Grand Rapids-native and former WYCE intern, Sam Cook-Parrott of Radiator Hospital, who plays bass on the record and in the touring band.
