Dirty Projectors is the amorphous musical project of David Longstreth formed in 2001. In their 16 years they have released 8 albums, 3 EPs, and featured 23 different members. Dirty Projectors’ newest self-titled album - out now on Domino - pushed something of a reset button on the whole project in a dramatic sonic shift. After a breakup with former member Amber Coffman, Longstreth was left heartbroken and as the sole member of Dirty Projectors. The new self-recorded and produced record chronicles the breakup as “sort of a garbled, kaleidoscopic-almost-fictionalized memoir”.

Their last record Swing Lo Magellan was released in 2012 and the interim 4 years saw Longstreth lending his talents to artists such as Kanye West, Solange, and Joanna Newsom. In a Rolling Stone interview, he speaks of his experience collaborating with such big names and how it influenced his approach to the new album.
