About this Event

Please join the YWCA West Central Michigan's Young Women for Change program for a community screening and panel discussion of the documentary Let's Talk About Sex.

Our goal is to open a dialogue for West Michigan concerning the social, economic, and public health issues surrounding sex education in schools. We are hoping to promote intersectional discussion that ultimately encourages comprehensive sexual education.

The event is free and open to the public. Doors will open at 5:30 pm.

About the Documentary:

Let's Talk About Sex takes a revealing look at how American attitudes towards adolescent sexuality affect today’s teenagers. We live in a society that uses sex to sell everything from lipstick to laptops. Yet fear and silence around sex and sexuality also permeate our culture. Teens are paying a terrible price for this confusion in unintended pregnancy, STDs, and HIV. The film compares the education and attitudes of American teens and families and explores how other nations are succeeding at protecting adolescent sexual health while the U.S. is failing.
