The Bad Plus is an American jazz trio from Minneapolis, Minnesota, that came together at the end of the 20th century and has avoided easy categorization ever since, winning critical praise and a legion of fans worldwide with their creativity, unique sound and flair for live performance.
The intensely collaborative trio has constantly searched for rules to break and boundaries to cross, bridging genres and techniques while exploring the infinite possibilities of three exceptional musicians working in perfect sync.
The trio's music combines elements of modern avant-garde jazz with rock and pop influences.
The Bad Plus have recorded reworked interpretations of songs by artists as diverse as Nirvana, Blondie, Pink Floyd, Ornette Coleman, Pixies, Rush, Tears for Fears, Neil Young, David Bowie, and even Black Sabbath.
They have released over 13 studio albums. Their most recent, “Activate Infinity” contains all original compositions and was recently added to the WYCE Music Library.
