Tuesday, May 14th: DAN AUERBACH

Dan Auerbach is an American musician, singer-songwriter, and record producer, best known as the guitarist and vocalist for The Black Keys.

As frontman of the Black Keys, vocalist/guitarist Dan Auerbach embraced the raw sound of electric blues-rock alongside drummer Pat Carney. The Ohio-based band released a string of acclaimed albums during the early 2000s before In 2009, Auerbach opted to branch out with a concurrent solo career, debuting the same year with “Keep It Hid.”

After the release of “Keep It Hid,” Auerbach returned to the Black Keys and the duo broke into the mainstream with 2010's “Brothers” and 2011's “El Camino,” both albums winning 3 Grammys each. The group's success opened the door for more creative collaborations for Auerbach and he seized them, producing everybody from the garage rock band Reigning Sound to New Orleans R&B legend Dr. John, to Lana Del Rey to Ray LaMontagne.

In 2015 he started a new side-project, “The Arcs,” and released their debut, “Yours, Dreamily,” the same year. His second solo album, “Waiting on a Song,” was released in 2017.

Today is his 40th birthday.
