Catherine Russell is an American vocalist, who was born into musical royalty. Her father was a legendary pianist/bandleader/arranger/composer, and Louis Armstrong’s long-time collaborator and musical director. Her mother, Carline Ray, was a pioneering bassist/guitarist/vocalist and holder of advanced degrees from Juilliard and Manhattan School of Music. Naturally, Catherine Russell became a one of a kind musician and vocalist.

Before Russell started her career as a solo performer, she had already toured the world, performing and recording with David Bowie, Steely Dan, Cyndi Lauper, Jackson Browne, Rosanne Cash, Carrie Smith, and many others, and had appeared on over 200 albums.

She debuted in 2006 with her album “Cat,” establishing her as a leading blues and jazz singer. With Russell's deep and genuine roots in jazz and the blues, a reputation for talent and quality performances, Russell has become well known in jazz circles and is one of the best-selling female artists on several jazz charts.

She has released 6 studio albums over her more than 30 year long career and her new album “Alone Together,” is set to be released March 1st, 2019.
