A master of the guitar, banjo, and mandolin, Billy Strings is a singer and instrumentalist whose music starts with the sound and speed of bluegrass and folds in elements of rock, jazz, and psychedelia. Jon Stickley Trio opens the show.

The Lone Bellow is a Brooklyn-based band who have become known for their transcendent harmonies, serious musicianship and lively performances. Their victorious release three years ago, Then Came The Morning produced by The National’s Aaron Dessner, was nominated for an Americana Music Award and helped create a large dedicated fan base.

2/9/2019 SATURDAY:  BELA FLECK & ABIGAIL WASHBURN @ St. Cecilia Music Center

Béla Fleck & Abigail Washburn, “the king and queen of the banjo” (Paste Magazine), have a musical partnership like no other. Béla Fleck is a fifteen-time Grammy Award winner who has taken the instrument across multiple genres, and Abigail Washburn a singer-songwriter and clawhammer banjo player who re-radicalized it by combining it with Far East culture and sounds.

2/28 THURSDAY:  MILK CARTON KIDS @ St. Cecilia

Nominated in 2015 for a Grammy for Best American Roots Performance and Best Folk Album of the Year in 2013, The Milk Carton Kids released a brand new album on June 29 from ANTI-Records, All the Things That I Did and All the Things That I Didn't Do. The new project marks the first time that acoustic duo Joey Ryan and Kenneth Pattengale have brought a band into the studio, and the two will be touring with them for this performance at SCMC.
