Tyler grew up homeschooled in DEEP midwest, South Bend, Indiana. He started acting his senior year of high school and gained his Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Acting Performance from Ball State University. Since graduating he’s done… Nothing. I mean, not nothing at ALL, just…. Nothing creatively. He worked in sales in GR, moved home, moved back to GR, then worked in sales some more. Soooo exciting. Thus, after stepping away from the corporate world, this will be Tyler’s first live performance in over two years.

Okay. Official jargon over, Tyler here. For the past two years I’ve been grappling with a few large questions. Questions such as, how do you not hate yourself? What makes you a good person? Why are my relationships in shambles? Why doesn’t my dad love me? Ha, those last two were jokes. Not really. Whatever.

Anyway, I’ve been grappling with all that stuff and thinking to myself, how do I find those answers? Are there answers? Is the answer 42 like in that one movie A Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy? With Mos def? Cause when you were a kid you were like, “Hahaha, that’s a really funny black guy.” But now when you think back on it you’re like, “Hahaha, I loved that funny black guy.” And then you’re like, “Holy shit wait, is that a little racist? Also, was that Mos Def? Walking a lot of lines here. I should put this in my show bio.”

Alright, FUCK. Enough getting off track. The point is I’ve been thinking a lot, and I decided to make something out of it. This is that thing.

“this is (not) a happy show” is a collection and exploration of my experiences, feelings, and how I’ve handled things that I can’t answer or don’t know what to do with. It’s a variety performance best described as manic, visual, and vulnerable. Think of it like a lost 24 year-old made a Ted Talk then infused it with videos and some WACK performance art. If you couldn’t tell by my use of the words “shit” and “FUCK” earlier, the performance is rated R so please don’t bring your kids. All proceeds go toward The American Sexual Health Association.
