WYCE Friday Fence-Raiser, August 1st

WYCE needs your help! A hit-and-run incident in mid-July destroyed the fence around our transmitter site in Wyoming. To cover the cost of replacing the fence, WYCE will hold a special one-day "Friday Fence-Raiser" on August 1st.
With your support, we hope to make it a "50-50 Friday Fence-Raiser" -- meaning that 50 donations of $50 will cover the expense. Rockford Construction company has issued a challenge donation to get the process moving. So, stay tuned, and on Friday, August 1st, get ready to help us raise some funds and raise a new fence!
If you'd like to make a contribution prior to the Friday Fence-Raiser, please call Janet Zahn at 616-459-4788, extension 133, or simple click on the Donate Now! link.
Try out our new web stream(s)!

Hey there, YCE web listeners!
Our friends at local Internet service provider Iserv are trying out a new audio streaming system for us, that will allow you to listen from a number of different programs (no more relying on the Real Audio player).
We're just testing things out for now, but we'd like to know what you think.
Click here for a CD-quality MP3 stream (requires a fast connection).
Click here for a lower bitrate stream (if clicking on the CD-quality stream causes excessive buffering, snags or drop-out)
When you click on the link, your computer will ask you what program you'd like to use to open the file. You can choose any media player capable of handling an MP3 stream (WinAmp, Windows Media Player, iTunes, etc.). If you aren't able to connect in that way, you can also choose the "Open URL" or "Open Web Stream" function found in most audio player software and enter the following addresses:
http://shoutcast.iserv.net:8000 (CD quality)
http://shoutcast.iserv.net:8010 (lower bitrate)
Let us know what you think! E-mail kevin [at] wyce [dot] org (replacing the [at] and [dot] with the appropriate @ and . symbols) and tell us how it sounds.
Spring Hat Trick Concerts Entertain G.R., Raise Nearly $4,000!

On June 2, WYCE hosted the final Hat Trick concert of the spring series. These six shows were well-attended, diverse in their musical range, and very helpful to the six nonprofits who received the proceeds of each night's "hat".
Over the course of the spring series, we helped to raise nearly $4,000 for local nonprofits. Those benificiaries were: Circle Pines Center, the Baxter Community Center, Specialized Language Development Center, the West Michigan Blues Society's "Blues in the Schools" program, Gilda's Club of Grand Rapids and Disability Advocates of Kent County.
This round of donations pushed the all-time total up beyond $45,000 since the Hat Trick Concert Series' inception in 2001!
WYCE would like to extend major thanks to all of the people who have made this Spring Hat Trick Concert Series a big success so far -- especially the law firm of Rhoades McKee, without whom we wouldn't have been able to book the great acts we have lined up! Thanks also go to Peaches B&B for providing lodging, One Trick Pony for providing great service to the patrons who attend the shows, and to Mark Swanson, for running a lovely-sounding sound system.
